About the Group

4th New Forest North (Eling) Sea Scouts are based at Testwood Lakes in Totton on the northern edge of the New Forest.

The Group was founded in 1957 originally as 9th New Forest East; 2017 saw us celebrate our Diamond Jubilee, alongside Scouting’s 110th birthday. If you have any information about the Group, or were once a member, please get in touch as we would love to hear from you.

The Group is highly successful providing Skills For Life for over 120 young people each week and from time-to-time may have waiting lists for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.  We are a Royal Navy Recognised Group (No 99) one of only 100 Sea Scout Groups who have passed regular inspections by the Royal Navy’s Staff Officer Scouts, and get to wear the coveted RN badge.  On our neckers, we also wear our Group badge, depicting the letter “E” with two kayaks.

We have a linked Explorer Scout Unit – Relentless, for those aged 14-18 who meet at our purpose-built Aquativity Centre at Testwood Lakes, which was opened in 2013.   If you are between 18 and 25 the Pegasus Scout Network operates across the New Forest North District.

If you are seeking a place in the Group for your child please read the Waiting List Policy attached below. We are always looking for volunteers to help run the group – administrators, fund raisers, building tradespeople, watersports instructors, or anyone who can help train our youngsters in a variety of skills. This can be on a part-time or occasional basis – please don’t be put off if you can only help from time to time.

Please use Getting In Touch if you want to contact us.
