The Scout Network is open to young people between the ages of 18 and 25; you do not need to have been a Scout before. Network Scouts are District based – Pegasus, the New Forest North Unit, meets on Tuesdays at Copythorne Scout HQ. They have a great website which gives an insight into their program which they devise and run themselves helped by a Network Leader; a mix of Scouting and social events.
Network Scouts can also be Scout Leaders and enjoy continuing their own Scouting adventures, having fun and sharing experiences with other Network Scouts. Many Universities also have Scout and Guide units under the Student Scout and Guides Organisation SSAGO , where students can continue to enjoy Scouting whilst at University.
Being part of a wider group allows Network Scouts to continue to work towards their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and the Queen’s Scout Award, which they must complete before they reach 25.
They can also enjoy County, National and International activities, camps and expeditions. Roverway 24 is an international event – location be announce, open to 16-22 year olds. Many Networks Scouts also help at World Jamborees and other international events as part of the International Service Teams, helping to run the events whilst being able to mix with Scouts from some 169 countries.
