We have just the job for you

We may not have had any meetings for a while, but that does not mean that Scouting has stopped.  Thanks to the hard work of our volunteer Leaders a fantastic programme of “Scouts at home” has kept our young members busy since the Covid-19 crisis started.  We are now working on plans to start meeting again in a safe way and we  have a number of volunteering (and one paid) vacancies to ensure we are able to offer the best Scouting experience.  Interested?  Then email volunteering@elingseascouts.org.uk now or contact us.

Cleaner

We are looking for a fully insured and checked Cleaner to take over regular cleaning of our building. If you know a reputable company that has availability please get in contact.

Building Manager

We are looking for someone to take over the role of Building Manager at our Scout Hut.

Do you have DIY skills that could mend and fix things as they happen, a knowledge of building that could help assist this well established Scout Group?

Activities included dealing with booking contractors and arranging for servicing of utilities making sure we are compliant with regulations.

May suit a semi-retired person!  You do not need to have a connection with the group.

Group Secretary

Taking minutes and circulating these after meetings (6-7 times a year), working with the Group exec team.

Assistant Cub Leader

Can you build a den?  Building dens is a real treat when you are eight, and even more fun when you are an adult!

  • We need you to come along to Cubs and support our young people.
  • Not just den building, but help do map work, craft, hiking and even make stuff from bits of wood (we call that pioneering).
  • What we need is an extra pair of hands to help the leaders provide these fantastic activities.
  • Interested in helping at Cubs?

Scout Leader

Can’t do this as you are late home from work?

Scouts doesn’t start until 7.30pm…

You do not need to have a child in Scouts to become a regular helper at one of our Scout Troops, on a Monday or Friday.

Sailing, Kayaking, Air rifle shooting, climbing, fire lighting, camping and much more – the Leaders have as much fun as the Scouts and there are opportunities to learn new skills yourself.

We have a fantastic building alongside Testwood Lakes providing a superb base for water activities for our Scouts and also for Sailability.  When the building was constructed we only had sufficient funds to install heating in the main hall, meaning that our meeting room and more importantly, our changing and shower rooms are unheated.  We use the lake from early Spring right through until the Autumn, so for much of the year changing and showering can be daunting for our young members and the disabled users,  We are now looking to raise funds through the Avica Community Fund to extend our heating.  Please help us by pledging a donation however small (or large) by following this link.

Brush up your skills

Time to do some Spring cleaning!  Or in our case Autumn Cleaning.

We are also at ASDA on the 23rd November doing Bag Packing from 9-2 – please show your support for this important fund-raiser.

Scout Leader

“I never realised how useful the my experience as a Scout Leader would be until I started my new job”.

We are seeking Leaders to help with our Sea Scout Section.    Do you think you are up for the challenge?  A great opportunity to learn new skills or hone existing ones.  Then why not find out more now and see how you can make a difference to the lives of young people in Totton.  Click on the picture for more details or get in touch with us today.
