Fund raising for us while you shop.
It takes a lot of funds to run a large modern Scout Group. Members’ subscriptions help with the day-to-day running costs, but we need other support to ensure we continue to provide superb opportunities for the young people of Totton, We have a number of different ways you can help the group – many of which will cost you nothing as we recieve donations from companies when you shop with them online,.
March 2020 – we are looking for help to heat the changing rooms in our Headquarters in partnership with Aviva, Click here to make a donation.
Simply click here and then search for us using our Charity Number 302268 or Eling Sea Scouts and follow the online instructions. Secure online payment method courtesy of Co-operative Bank.
You can also help raise funds for the Group AT NO COST TO YOURSELF!! A huge number of online retailers are linked to this scheme, including insurance companies, tour operators, fashion outlets and car hire. When shopping on line, first log into www.easyfundraising.org.uk Click “register as a user” and enter “4th New Forest North Sea Scouts” You can then access the on-line shop you want, as normal, and a percentage of your purchases will be credited to the Group. Over £2000 has been raised for the Group in this way.
You can also get to Amazon directly – similar to using Easyfundraising, but you access it at smile.amazon.co.uk
If you have any used inkjet cartridges these can be recycled and will raise funds for the Group at the same time. Click here to find out how. Either pop you used ink cartridges in the box at our HQ at Testwood Lakes, or sign up on-line and order your own freepost bags to send them away directly for us.
If you shop at the Coop you can also help raise funds for us by registering your Coop membership card against the Group – over £600 raised so far this way, as we get 1% of what you spend.
The Donkey Derby will be back in 2020 for the 26th year on Saturday 16th May at 1pm.
The 24th Donkey Derby, held in May 2019, was another great success for the group. Over 3000 people braved the typical early summer weather to enjoy a great afternoon of Donkey racing. As usual the thrills and spills were all there, with the showers adding to the uncertainty of the results. Photos of the event can be found on the Daily Echo Website
Our thanks go to everyone who helped out, before, during or after the event and to those companies and individuals who sponsored races or individual donkeys. A special word of thanks to our main sponsor – Royston Group of Lyndhurst. If you would like to get involved for the 2019 event please Get In Touch.
Eling Sea Scouts’ Donkey Derby has been a favourite of local residents for over 20 years. The Group had been raising small amounts of money to fund equipment and Scouting activities, but it was realised that a new HQ would be required and we needed a substantial amount of money to finance it. Held on a Saturday in May on Eling Recreation Ground off the A35 near Rushington Roundabout, the family event is the culmination of a year’s hard work by a small band of fundraisers. The main attraction is obviously the Donkey Racing; visitors can even have a flutter using a tote system, and there are plenty of slide shows, catering and activities for the family to enjoy.
