Phil The Bag is Back

Just some of the material collected last time

The last Phil the Bag event raised an amazing £274 - thanks to all who contributed. By popular demand Phil is back and needs your contributions to be at Aquativity by 23 October. 

We need all kinds of unwanted adult and children's clothes and school uniform, hats,shoes, belts , handbags and household textiles including sheets, pillow cases duvet covers curtains and towels. All items should be in a reusable condition and bagged up.

Gone Home - Tom Hall 1985-2014


Tom Hall died on 16th August after a short illness. He was used to battling with his health after being diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 6. He joined Cubs and lived his life as a true Scout should. He demonstrated that determination and hard work allowed you to realise your dreams, but at the same time he put a huge amount of effort and time in helping other people. His funeral is at 11.00 at Southampton Crematorium, East Chapel, on Tuesday the 2nd of September.

Cubs Summer Fun

 

The Adventure Doesn't Stop for Summer!

The Cubs have had a busy Summer enjoying some of our fantastic sunshine.

They had a great camp at Clanfield, near Horndean in East Hampshire. As you can see from the photo above,they climbed Butser Hill, the highest point on the South Downs at 889 feet (271m). They also found time to visit the RN Dockyard in Portsmouth, where they viewed HMS Victory. It looks like some of the leaders were over-worked and had to lie down!

Donkey Derby Update

Well, what a day!  The sun certainly shone on the Group last Saturday at the 19th Donkey Derby! What a fantastic success!

The Great Thames Row - the final day - £1685 raised so far!

Wednesday

The final day up at 6:30 set off at 7:30 a good pace to make the final lock at Teddington in time for high water.

08:15 Through the lock and on to tidal water. Does not seem that fast but as we reach Richmond the ebb starts and the speed picks up . We seem to be flying through Twickenham ,Kew and on to Fulham. We complete the boat race course without realising it. Then on in towards Chelsea. Even as we stop rowing to eat or drink the boat doesn't seem too slow.

Tuesday
08 :30 Set off fo another days row weather is surprisingly still good. We stop 8 miles into the day at Boulters lock where we meet Iain and Liz from Help For Heroes at Tedworth House. They have come up with a double kayak an are planning to do 10 miles with us. Great to have some company

The Great Thames Row - Day 3 pt 2

Monday

Up early! On the water by 0730. This will be the longest day. Arrange to meet up with every one at Whitchurch lock and set off for the first 13 mile section, leaving Phil, Keith and Linda to strike camp. We set of at a good pace through Days and then Benson Locks. Later we are contacted by the support to say it not possible to access Whitchurch Lock easily so they will meet us at Goring.
