Update from the donkey stables

Training is in full swing for our annual romp around Eling Recreation Ground on 18th May. However there is some sadness as there are currently a number of donkeys without names and without owners.

A tour of the building

As you may have seen on the Sea Scouts website, there have been quite a few working parties over recent weeks, as well as ongoing work from a range of trades.  This has led to rapid progress as you might expect, so I thought it was about time we took a tour of the building, with some current status along the way...

A big thank you from Phil the Bag

Just some of the material collected

Thank you to everyone who donated items and helped with the collecting.

This has raised £243.60 for the group.

Please don't throw anything away (shoes, bags, towels, any material, school uniform, tea towels, odd socks........) - we will be having another collection in the Autumn.

James Ketchell Photographs

Some photos from the recent visit to Testwood Lakes and Aquativity, by James Ketchell, adventurer and Scout Ambassador.
jk33 James visited Testwood Lakes as part of a tour of Hampshire to raise awareness of his planned adventure to cycle around the world. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts from the Group were on hand to meet him. As a reminder of his rowing trip across the Atlantic James was invited onto the lake in Pegasus.

After the Atlantic - Testwood Lakes

Well, what a day! The sun shone, Paul our GSL demonstrated his prowess on the water, James Ketchell, our new County Scout Ambassador visited the new HQ, the plasterboarding working party was in full swing, Scouts were at County Winter Camp and we had about 30 visitors.

Vacancy for Group Scout Leader

Our Group Scout Leader,Paul, is standing down in June after over 17 years involvement with the Group.  With our new HQ, the Aquativity Centre, nearing completion at Testwood Lakes, Paul felt it was the right time to start recruiting for a new GSL to take our incredibly successful Group forward.  Applicants should have some experience of working with volunteers, have good communication skills and be able to provide vision and leadership for the Group.  You will be supported by a strong team of Trustees and Leaders. Double Eagle Victory

A massive well done to all who took part in last night's Eagle Trophy.  Despite the cold and, for some, boggy conditions all four of our teams made a super effort and did very well in the final positions, including 1st and 2nd place.
