HELP FOR HEROES is a Charity that provides support for Soldiers, many of whom are wounded or traumatized by their wartime experiences. Eling Sea Scouts have been delighted to support Help For Heroes, by hosting a group soldiers at the Aquativity Centre on Testwood Lakes. The troops spent the afternoon kayaking and rowing on the lake, and were blessed with some rare summer sunshine.

Our Explorer Scout Leader, John Pickering, who helped organise the day said, "Whilst the physical scars are more obvious, many of the group were finding it difficult to come to terms with what they had been through. They were quiet when they arrived at the lakes, but it was fantastic to see the change once they got out on the water.

Use of the lake for boating is limited to youngsters and the disabled, so this opportunity shows what a great community facility we are building at Testwood. We will be looking to run similar events if we can."
