Royal Navy Staff Officer Scouts, Lieutenant Commander David Griffiths, inspected the Troop and Sea Explorer Unit as part of the ongoing assessment for Royal Navy Recognition. After being piped on board, David met the Group Chairman and Leaders.

Following Colours, the Lt Cmdr inspected the Group, including Cub Scouts who were moving on to the Troop, both watches of the Sea Scouts, Sea Explorers and Leaders.

During the evening he watched various training sessions being held and was able to meet with members of the Group Executive, District and County representatives and Councillor Les Puttock, Chairman of New Forest District Council.  Parents had laid on a wonderful spread of cakes which were enjoyed by all.

New Forest North District Commissioner, Kerie Wallace, was delighted to invest his niece, Sarah, as a Scout Leader and Lt Commander Griffiths presented Chief Scout Gold Awards to Ellie and Megan.

Dismissing the Group, David quizzed the Scouts and Explorers as to why they should retain their RN Recognition. Commenting on the levels of enthusiasm, skills and discipline he has seen during the inspection and the obvious support received from the Leaders and helpers, David finally eased the tension by announcing that the Group had retained its recognition and he presented the GSL, Paul Bullock, with the new certificate."
