Group Chairman - A message from our GSL

So,…..as probably the holder of this post for the shortest amount of time in Group history (6 months), it is now my turn to find a replacement Chairman for the Group. This is not a difficult role, and with the completion of the new HQ, the role now returns to its normal level.

Aquativity - looking back one week on - posted 30 Jun 2013

Thanks to our sponsors.

Sunday 23 June saw the official opening of our new HQ and Aquativity centre at Testwood Lakes.  After many years of fundraising, over 300 guests and members saw Francis Hughes from the F J Wallis Charitable Trust officially declare the building open.  The Trust, who are the project's lead sponsors, have been supporting the new building project since 2010.

The group have raised over £150k themselves.  Many other donors included The Barker Mills Foundation and a huge number of local companies and organisations who have provided materials and labour.  Without them the centre would still be an unfinished shell, and we would like to thank all of them for their generosity.

The Road to Aquativity

The story of the building of Aquativity in pictures. From the digging of the first trench to the opening day.

It's taken two hard years to complete our spendid new building, since the contractors first came on site in May 2011.   In that time hundreds of volunteer hours have been given to provide a worthy home for the Group and a water activities centre the area can be proud of.  This gallery is a tribute to all of those who contributed and to our generous sponsors who have made it possible.

It's Open!!

Yes, it really is open!

And what a crowd turned out to see it!

After 18 years of fundraising and 12 years of planning we have the newest Scout HQ in the Country.

Full story on the opening day to follow.
